Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on July 22 that Serbia’s next government would be very different from the previous one, but that the person who would be charged with composing the new cabinet would take care of it.

Having attended a Serbian gendarmerie military exercise called Gruza 2022, Vucic said that the next prime minister would shape the new government, and that they would share their opinion at party sessions. “You do not have to be a member of the cabinet for 10, 15 or 20 years only because you think you should. I believe new energy is needed, too,” Vucic said.

The president criticized Croatian media reports on a visit to Serbia by his Egyptian counterpart, Abdel Fattah el-Sisi. Vucic was especially bothered by a report on his guest’s tour of a display of arms and military equipment at the Topcider barracks. “Of course we will continue to export weapons and invest in the military industry. We are going to invest another EUR100 million in the coming period,” he said.

Vucic underlined that developing ties with Egypt was very important, because it was the largest Mediterranean country, and one of the most influential African and Arab states. “In the Islamic world Egypt plays a vital role, and it was an honor for me to be the Egyptian president’s host. I believe it is a cornerstone of the good cooperation that we will develop in the sectors of agriculture, trade and the military industry,” Vucic said.
