Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on Aug. 21 that over the next 10 days Belgrade would continue to look for a compromise solution regarding vehicle license plates and personal identification documents, which Pristina said it would start implementing as of Sept. 1.

After a meeting with Kosovo Serb representatives in Belgrade, on the subject of the Brussels dialogue, Vucic accused Pristina of wanting to expel Serbs from the north of Kosovo and Metohija, and underscored that in spite of everything there would be no refugee columns nor persecution.

He said that the Serbian leadership had received full support from the Kosovo Serb representatives to seek a compromise solution in the next 10 days with, as he put it, some issues that they see as red lines. He quoted them as saying that they would accept any compromise and only asked for guarantees that they would not suffer a pogrom.

At the same press conference, Vucic said that the Serbian Progressive Party leadership was supposed to pick a prime minister-designate on Aug. 23 who would put together a new cabinet. When asked whether EuroPride, which is scheduled to take place in Belgrade in September, had been canceled, Vucic replied that the public would be informed of that when a decision was reached.
