It is not just the economic future of the member countries but also peace and stability in the region that depend on the success of the Open Balkans initiative, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on Sept. 2.
"There has never been more attention or energy focused on the success of this project," Vucic said in Belgrade, at the opening of a summit of leaders of the Open Balkans, an initiative that, besides Serbia, includes Albania and North Macedonia.
Vucic pointed out that the fact that Albania and North Macedonia had launched EU accession talks was also a success of Open Balkans.
"The success of this initiative is not small, but we can go faster, stronger and better," stressed Vucic.
The summit is co-presided over by the prime ministers of Albania and North Macedonia, Edi Rama and Dimitar Kovacevski respectively, while chairman of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina Zoran Tegeltija, Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto and his Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu are in attendance.
