Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on Oct. 10 that in all government agencies the Bosniacs would have “considerably more representatives” than they should have according to the size of their population, adding that he was confident it was “a record number of Bosniacs” in Serbia’s new cabinet.

“We want you to see that we have accepted Bosniacs as our sisters and brothers, they are not a foreign body in Serbia. We don’t mind you loving Sarajevo, but I’m happy to see that more and more Bosniacs are coming to Belgrade – Belgrade is your capital, and you are always welcome,” Vucic said at the opening of a new highway connecting Novi Pazar and Tutin.

In a comment on the opposition demand for a new vote, Vucic said that it’s fine with him to have a new election whenever the opposition wanted it, but that he’s “afraid that the opposition would fare even worse than in the previous elections.”

The Serbian president said that there were various pressure groups in Serbia, trying to sway Serbia to one side, or another, adding that he was “not worried about their influence.” “There is a media nomenclature in Serbia representing the pressure groups. They are under direct foreign influence, be it from the East or from the West, to have a say in bringing critical decisions,” Vucic said.
