After meeting with President Aleksandar Vucic in Belgrade on Oct. 27, Serb Ticket leader Goran Rakic announced that Kosovo Serbs will peacefully, non-violently and democratically resist “anyone attempting to seize their property.” He added that this included vehicles and license plates, referencing Pristina’s demand that Kosovo Serbs abandon the use of registration documents issued by the state of Serbia.
“The people’s resistance will be non-violent but, unfortunately, there is no way of knowing what it will lead to and what may happen if our property is subjected to violence,” Rakic told the press. His sit-down with President Vucic took place mere days before the Oct. 31 deadline Pristina set for replacing vehicle license plates issued by Serbia proper to those issued by Kosovo authorities.
According to Rakic, while Pristina has spent millions of euros on its campaign “only two persons from north Kosovo have had their registration documentation changed at the registration centers in the north.” “We trust only our President Vucic and the Serbian state. We have received strong assurance from Vucic that the Serbian state will stand by its people,” Rakic said.
After his conference with the representatives of Kosovo Serbs, Vucic attended a meeting of the National Security Council.
