According to a Nov. 14 statement by Ninoslav Cmolic, the head of Serbia’s Service for Combatting Organized Crime, the lives of President Aleksandar Vucic and his family have been under constant threat ever since Vucic waged a public war on the mafia.
Speaking for Pink TV, Cmolic said that the source of the danger are the members of the gang headed by Veljko Belivuk and Nikola Vusovic, but that their orders are coming from Radoje Zvicer, the leader of the Montenegrin Kavaci gang.
“In documents received from Europol, which have been corroborated by the French judiciary, we have found evidence of the intent to assassinate President Vucic, his child, or his brother. However, there is not enough evidence in the transcripts to raise an indictment. Still, the main issue is that we have no access to these individuals. Everything is being planned and organized abroad, and we do not know what other steps they’ve taken to achieve their goal,” Cmolic explained.
