On Nov. 29, the Belgrade City Assembly is set to debate removal of Mayor Aleksandar Sapic at the initiative of some opposition aldermen.
In mid-November, some opposition caucuses submitted a request for scheduling a special City Assembly session to debate recall of Sapic, citing an illegal extension to his house in the Bezanijska Kosa neighborhood in the Municipality of New Belgrade.
The initiative for recalling Sapic and also for resolving problems in Serbia’s capital has been backed by aldermen from the United caucus, the Democratic Party, We Must-Together, and the People’s Party.
The session scheduled for 3 p.m. on Nov. 29 will also discuss air pollution, hikes in apartment and rent prices and energy crisis in Belgrade.
