Jarinje

On Dec. 20, the main thoroughfares in Kosovo’s north remained blocked, marking the 11th day since Serbs erected barricades in the municipalities of Zvecan, Zubin Potok and Leposavic.

The protesters are demanding the release of three arrested Kosovo Serbs, including former Kosovo Police officers Dejan Pantic and Sladjan Trajkovic, as well as the withdrawal of all Kosovo Police special forces units from the territory’s north.

Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti said on Dec. 19 that the “barricades will soon be removed” and that, during his discussion with the KFOR command, KFOR asked for more time to decide on the measures necessary for removing the blocks.

The roadblocks were erected after Dejan Pantic was taken into custody as a suspect in the terrorist attack on the Kosovoska Mitrovica offices of Kosovo’s Central Electoral Commission.
