On Dec. 29 the Kosovo media reported that clashes had erupted between supporters of an initiative from Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic to remove the barricades in north Kosovo and the so-called "Russians" who oppose this and are unwilling to let the barricades be removed.

"The Russians are a problem because they oppose and do not want to allow their removal. It is believed that they (the Russians) lit trucks at a bridge in Zvecan on fire during the night as a sign of rebellion against this decision. According to what we learned, Vucic has dispatched 'toughs,' from Belgrade to the barricades to stop the process of removing the barricades from being hampered," the Pristina Kosovapress.com website has reported.

Kosovo police confirmed early on Dec. 29 that two trucks were set on fire at Dudin Hrast between North Mitrovica and Zvecan and that no one was injured.
