A Member of the European Parliament (MEP) from the Greens, Viola von Cramon, has said that the statements by Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic prior to the EU plan for Kosovo, were very praiseworthy as they had paved the way for reaching an agreement.

“However, the rhetoric later on and the mockery of ‘unbearable pain in the right arm’ have been met with a very bad reception, both, in Brussels and in key capital cities in the EU,” von Cramon told the March 28 issue of Belgrade daily Nova commenting on Vucic’s statement that he had not signed the agreement.

Von Cramon, who is also the European Parliament rapporteur for Kosovo, also said that “it is not up to Serbia to decide whether Kosovo can become a member of the UN.” Von Cramon added she understood that such statements were intended “for the domestic public,” but noted that the issue was not in Serbia’s hands, as becoming a member of the UN was dependent on the Security Council, where China and Russia could still use their veto power.
