Serbian Minister of Energy Dubravka Djedovic and U.S. Ambassador Christopher Hill (BETAPHOTO/MILAN OBRADOVIC )

Serbian Minister of Mining and Energy Dubravka Djedovic and the U.S. ambassador to Serbia, Christopher Hill, visited three residential buildings in Valjevo, on April 10, which had undergone energy efficiency rehabilitation works, expected to reduce energy bills by 30 percent.

Minister Djedovic said that the USAID Better Energy Activity, providing financial support for the works on five buildings in Valjevo worth RSD10.6 million, would not only produce energy savings and lower costs, but also reduce hazardous gas emissions, the Ministry of Mining and Energy reported.

The Ministery recalled in a release that subsidies worth RSD2.6 billion had been provided for some 20,000 households, and that additional EUR70 million had been secured to continue the programme for nearly 80,000 households.

Ambassador Hill underlined that the U.S. embassy had developed excellent cooperation with the citizens of Valjevo during the Better Energy project, and that it would continue to identify solutions that would be important for ordinary people, involving them, too, in the process.
