In the morning of May 3, a seventh grader shot and killed eight children and a security guard at Vladislav Ribnikar Elementary School in downtown Belgrade, the Serbian Ministry of Interior Affairs has announced.
Six other students and one teacher of the school were wounded in the shooting and have been admitted to the capital’s Emergency Care Centre and the Tirsova Street Children’s Hospital.
The shooter – fourteen-year-old K.K. – was found and arrested in the yard of the school, of which he, too, is a student.
Police are currently on the grounds and working fervently to determine all the facts and circumstances surrounding the tragedy, the Ministry has said.
Citing unofficial sources, Belgrade media have reported that the student who killed nine people got an F in history, which is believed to be the catalyst for him opening fire in history class.
