On May 17, 78 elementary and 37 secondary schools in Belgrade received e-mails alleging explosive devices were planted on school grounds, the Ministry of Education has announced.
At each school, morning classes were canceled and students and staff were evacuated from the premises, while police have been sent to investigate on the ground.
While some schools have been cleared and have resumed normal operation, others are still waiting. The schools’ principals can obtain the schedule of bomb sweeps from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and then decide on whether or not to cancel afternoon classes as well.
