The former heads of northern Kosovo municipalities, spearheaded by Serb Ticket leader Goran Rakic, met with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic on June 12 and briefed him on the grave situation in the province.

According to the KoSSev website, they reiterated a demand made earlier of U.S. and EU special envoys Gabriel Escobar and Miroslav Lajcak that two persons arrested just before clashes broke out between Serbs and KFOR on May 29 be released.

"When I say grave situation, I'm talking about our people living south of the Ibar River, and that situation is even more dire now after the raid of the ROSU [Kosovo police] special units into the north, after the mistreatment of our people, so we briefed the president about the situation on the ground," Rakic told the press in Belgrade.

He said Vucic was also shown recordings proving that the two Serbs had been arrested while sitting on the ground in passive resistance to KFOR while in no way threatening the soldiers.

Other demands include a halt to the persecution of Serbs who took part in setting up barricades and in protests last year and now, the urgent establishment of the Community of Serb Municipalities, with its statute to be adopted by Belgrade, Pristina and the EU, and the withdrawal of special units from what Rakic termed "the people's municipalities."
