The slogan of Belgrade Pride 2023 will be ‘We Are Not Even Close’ to draw attention to the fact that Serbia’s LGBTI+ community is facing increased violence and discrimination, the event’s organizers announced on Aug. 9, adding that Pride Week will be celebrated from the 4th to the 10th of September.

The Pride parade will take place on Sept. 9, the statement said.

“The beginning of this year’s Pride campaign was marked by spraying graffiti on the Pride Info Center, whereby the activists of Belgrade Pride wanted to draw attention to the verbal and physical assaults they have been subject to. Given that the Pride Info Center has been vandalized 18 times, yet not a single perpetrator has been punished, this time, Belgrade Pride decided to pre-empt the hooligans,” the statement further reads.

The press release also stated that the slogan ‘We Are Not Even Close’ illustrates “the LGBTI+ movement’s fight for equality, dignity and love.”

This year’s Pride Week will include a series of cultural events, including artistic and educational content such as theatre festivals, exhibits, panel discussions, debates, parties and community talks.

The Pride Walk is scheduled for 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 9, and will begin and end at Belgrade’s Manjez Park, where a concert will take place following the parade.
