The Youth Initiative for Human Rights said on Sept. 7 that not a single LGBTI+ community demand had been met since 2017, despite "tiny steps forward."

The Initiative said in a statement that hence this year's Belgrade Pride was being held under the slogan "Not Even Close." Members of the LGBTI+ community are still targeted by violence on the part of people who disagree with them, same-sex unions are not regulated by law and the health system discriminates against transgender members of the community, the statement said.

The Initiative pointed to the importance of a Pride March scheduled for Sept. 9 to promote equality, love and the building of a democratic society in which everyone will enjoy basic human rights. The organization called on everyone to join the battle for achieving these rights and pride marches.
