Serbian Minister of Mining and Energy Dubravka Djedovic Handanovic has said that this winter season citizens will have discounts that can halve their electricity bills if they use electricity rationally.
"By rationalizing the use of electric energy citizens will be able to halve their bills. If they reduce consumption by over five percent compared with the same month in the past two years, they will receive electricity bills that are between 20 and 40 percent lower in the next six months," Djedovic Handanovic told Serbian state TV, the Ministry said.
Djedovic Handanovic stressed that the energy system was set for the start of the heating season. "All of the necessary preparations and overhauls of production and distributive networks have been conducted in remote heating systems, according to the reports that have arrived, and sufficient quantities of energy for the start of the heating season have been secured," the minister said.
She also said that it was important that renewable sources of energy were being introduced in remote heating systems and that the homes of citizens in three municipalities - Priboj, Mali Zvornik and Novi Pazar would be heated through the use of biomass.
