On Dec. 4, the Serbia against Violence ticket filed a criminal report against multiple persons over abuses related to the work of a Serbian Progressive Party call center based on an article by the CINS Center for Investigative Reporting of Serbia published last week.
Jelena Jerinic, a candidate on the ticket, told reporters on party premises in Belgrade that the Progressive party having a call center was not the issue, rather the existence of a series of irregularities in its work was.
"Unauthorized collection of personal data is prohibited. Failure to pay taxes and contributions is prohibited. Purchasing votes is prohibited," Jerinic specified.
She said a criminal report had also been filed against Jelena Markovic and Milena Markovic, owners of a hostess agency, Milos Vucevic, legal representative of the Serbian Progressive Party, and Stefan Milisic and Ognjen Kocevic, legal representative of the non-governmental organizations Center for Belgrade Youth Education and Development. The report also covers several persons unknown from the Serbian Ministry of State Administration and Local Government.
The CINS investigative reporting website published an article about a Progressive party call center, detailing suspicions that its databases contained the personal information of a large number of citizens, information like their unique citizen number, address and polling station, and including an image of the database and which information is in it.
The article notes that per diems for working at the call center were paid in cash and in person on the premises of the Center for Belgrade Youth Education and Development, and included a video showing that proof of votes for the Progressive party was required for tripled per diems on election day.
