The European Union would not do anything in relation to the state of democracy in Serbia as they had Aleksandar Vucic in power, who had been very cooperative regarding the status of Kosovo and Metohija, New Democratic Party of Serbia deputy leader Predrag Marsenic said on Feb. 6.
Speaking to TV N1, Marsenic said that no one should be hoping that the West would provide assistance to Serbia in fighting for democracy.
“The EU is even set to add actual recognition of secession as a criterion under Chapter 35. There is no legality there, it is a breach of the Serbian Constitution. No one in the EU is bothered with democratic deficit in Serbia in the past 12 years,” he said,
Marsenic also said the opposition parties should accept the mandates in the Serbian Parliament they had won in the latest elections, explaining that the ruling Serbian Progressive Party would not have any problem with being the only party represented in the parliament.
“This composition will have a four-year mandate, because the regime has made major commitments to the EU which it must fulfil,” Marsenic said.
