The director of the Serbian government's Commission on Missing Persons, Veljko Odalovic, said on June 19 that 567 Serbs were still registered as having gone missing during the conflict in Kosovo and Metohija from 1998 to 1999, while 385 bodies of Serbs and other non-Albanians from the Commission's records had been collected so far.
The mortal remains of three Serb civilians killed in Kosovo in 1999 were handed over to their families at the Merdare crossing on June 18.
Odalovic told public service RTS that those three persons had gone missing and were killed, according to the autopsy findings, after June 10, 1999, i.e. after the international mission assumed full responsibility in Kosovo and Metohija.
Odalovic also said that two more persons had been identified, who would - as per the families' wishes - be buried in Pristina and Djakovica, respectively.
According to earlier records of the Commission on Missing Persons, a total of 1,613 persons of different nationalities are registered as missing in the territory of Kosovo and Metohija.
