Former Croatian president Ivo Josipovic has said that Croatia and Serbia are ruled by "the far right, with the prompting of the even more extreme right," and that there is pronounced historical revisionism in both countries, which is why they are both engaged in tragic social regression.

"The Ustashe and Chetniks who were, without a doubt, servants of Hitler and Mussolini and their allies, are all of a sudden turning into good guys, patriots and noble warriors today. In fact, for Croatia and Serbia, the countries that gave such a great contribution to European anti-fascism, this is tragic social regression," Josipovic told the latest edition of the NIN weekly.

Also, he added, there is no social justice in Croatia, although matters are probably not much different in Serbia either.

"Corruption is very pronounced, while the influence of the church on politics is highly unfit for western democracies. The consequence is social stagnation and the departure of numerous, especially young and educated, people abroad," Josipovic said.
