Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on Sept. 1 that as soon Kosovo receives a new government, Serbia would be under great pressure to recognize its independence.

"There will be great (external) pressure, and they're going to combine it with internal pressure. There will be pressure to recognize the independence of Kosovo without a compromise, without anything. A compromise is a solution, but recognition without Serbia getting anything, and you get everything -- that you won't be seeing," Vucic told a session of his Serbian Progressive Party's steering committee.

According to Vucic, this pressure will be "appalling," and will be executed by internal elements and the media as well.

Vucic said his advice to the Serb Ticket was to run in the Oct. 6 election in Kosovo, and that his expectation was that they would win by landslides in Serb municipalities.

"Ethnic Albanian websites and the Quint have left no stone unturned in engaging in the race so the Serb Ticket loses to some of their favorites," Vucic said, alluding to a recently formed opposition Serb coalition which has announced that it will run in the election.
