Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said after a meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron and Kosovo President Hashim Thaci in Paris on Nov. 2 that Macron and Europe wanted to play a more meaningful role in solving the Kosovo issue but that a "in-depth meeting" did not happen.

Vucic told reporters that the discussion was "very cordial, good, open and friendly" and that Serbia's position was "unambiguous and unchanged."

"There is no doubt that France and Europe want a more important role in this issue. With respect to the Americans and Russians and all others, it is without a doubt that Europe wants the most important role and that this was spoken by the French president who was thinking about himself and chancellor [of Germany Angela] Merkel but also European institutions," Vucic said stressing that Serbia's stance was still that the tariffs in Kosovo needed to be removed and only then could the dialog resume.

Vucic said that Macron wanted to "demonstrate Europe's devotion to solving issues on European soil," to say that Europe has a key role in this "and that Europe will lead this process" and thirdly "he wanted to hear what the situation was."
