The Japanese government would invest RSD6 million in opening info centers for returnees and local population in Prokuplje, the Roma Association in Prokuplje president Dejan Zivkovic told BETA on Feb. 25
He said that it was a project intended for the returnees, primarily the Roma, who had had been deported and those who had voluntarily returned to the south of Serbia from the western European countries, as well as for potential migrants in Serbia’s south.
The Roma Association, financially backed by the Japanese Embassy in Serbia and the German Development Agency GIZ, would continue to implement the project over the next year, which would also involve the reconstruction a social center building in the Roma settlement of Cerkez Mala in Prokuplje.
The signing ceremony at the Serbian government building was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Zorana Mihajlovic, Japanese and German ambassadors to Serbia, Junichi Maruyama and Thomas Schieb respectively, and Prokuplje Mayor Aleksandar Simonovic.
