The International Standard and Poor’s credit rating agency has confirmed that Bosnia and Herzegovina’s credit rating is a “B” with a positive outlook, the Central Bank has said.

The agency’s analysts said that Bosnia’s economy, despite long-lasting political divisions, was continuing to grow and predicted that its GDP would grow by 2.7 % in the next four years, Nezavisne Novine reported. Results in the fiscal sphere are the main factor supporting its credit rating while the country’s net debt is expected to stay below 30% of GDP.

The Agency also said that the quality of Bosnia’s banking regulations was good. “The positive outlook is based on the demonstrated devotion of the authorities to continue structural reforms and in the next six to 12 months achieve an agreement on an arrangement with the International Monetary Fund,” a statement said.

According to the analysts reforms could apply to lowering the burden of labor costs and improving the running of public companies. “The current rating is valid since March last year when the agency lifted the country’s outlook from stable to positive which was the first improvement in its outlook for Standard and Poor’s long-term rating for Bosnia since 2012,” the statement added.
