Ivan Nikolic, the editor of magazine Macroeconomic Analysis and Trends (MAT), on March 10 said that Serbian economy was resisting negative impacts of coronavirus and was in the phase of sustainable expansion. He added that financial system was stable and that there were no disturbances in the purchase of foreign currency on the forex market.

“Serbia’s economy is still holding well. In January, good results were achieved and there is no indication of a crisis in the forex market as the flow of foreign currencies is as usual. In January, the National Bank of Serbia had fewer interventions than in the last three months,” Nikolic said at the presentation of the latest issue of MAT.

He added that foreign currency inflow from foreign tourists would be lower, as would be the outflow, so the deficit would reduce. Nikolic noted that the impact on the growth of other sectors had not been measured yet.
