Kopaonik Business Forum

One third of the Kopaonik Business Forum program, to be held March 6 to 9, 2022, would be devoted to the Western Balkan region and its growth potential, the organizers said on Feb. 1.

“Tighter cooperation between the countries in the region, green transition and sustainable development will be the main topics of discussion and exchange of opinion among the forum participants,” it is said the release. This year’s edition of the forum, also dubbed “Serbian Davos,” will gather all executive managers of international financial institutions for Serbia, including the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the World Bank (WB), the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the European Investment Bank (EIB), the International Finance Corporation (IFC). The release added that all presidents of chambers of commerce of the countries in the region had also confirmed their attendance.

Serbian Association of Economists President Aleksandar Vlahovic has said that according to the January report of the World Bank, a moderate growth of 4.1 percent has been projected for the Western Balkan region in 2022.

“Along with the projected recovery and growth, the poverty rate trend in the Western Balkans is expected to continue dropping. However, the overall positive prospects for this region are still jeopardized by the risks related to potential reimposition of restrictions due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and associated exhaustion of the fiscal space and growing public debts,” Vlahovic said.
