The takeover of Aerodrom Nis, the operator of Konstantin Veliki airport in Serbia’s southern city, by company Aerodromi Srbije is in the final stage and will be completed by the end of August, Aerodromi Srbije General Manager Mihajlo Zdravkovic has told BETA.

Zdravkovic said that assets of the Nis city airport were already in the hands of Aerodromi Srbije, while Aerodrom Nis was only operating the Konstantin Veliki airport.

“After the takeover is completed, Aerodromi Srbije will be the sole operator of the Nis airport and will keep the local staff,” Zdravkovic said.

He recalled that Aerodromi Srbije had relocated its head office to Nis in late June, from where it would also be managing Morava airport near Kraljevo, and in the future also Ponikve airport, near the western city of Uzice, as well as other small airfields across Serbia.

Zdravkovic said that talks were underway with several airlines interested in establishing flights from the Kraljevo airport during the winter or summer seasons.

Company Aerodromi Srbije was set up by the Serbian government in early 2016, for the purpose of managing, developing and maintaining airport infrastructure in Serbia, according to earlier reports.
