The general secretary of the Regional Cooperation Council (RCC), Majlinda Bregu, stated on June 25 that, in order for regional economic integration to succeed and be fully connected with the common European market, clear political readiness of all factors and partners was needed to secure a comprehensive approach to cooperation in the Western Balkans.

According to the statement of the RCC, Bregu stated that it was up to the region to keep the determination to cooperate as the instrument that can always bring concrete progress, and not betray the immense support of the people to regional cooperation and membership in the European Union.

The statement reads that two meeting were held on June 25, within the South East Europe Cooperation Process (SEECP) – the meeting of foreign ministers of the Process and the annual meeting of the RCC, which was organized together with Kosovo as the outgoing presiding country of the SEECP.

Regional cooperation is not just a technical process that depends on meetings and strategies on paper. It is a political process, greatly influenced by the political situations, but also by the numerous challenges. We cannot succeed unless we all proactively participate in stopping the threats to regional stability and progress, Bregu stated.
