Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic said on Aug. 10 that the construction of a new Covid-19 hospital in the Rasina barracks in Krusevac was part of preparations for fall and winter, when a wave of new coronavirus infections might be stronger than it was July and August.

At the opening of the construction works, Brnabic said the investment was RSD 1,724,000,000 worth, providing for 500 beds and intensive care units.

"It will be a modern, multifunctional hospital available to the citizens of Krusevac, as well as the Rasina district," the Serbian PM said, adding that once the virus is defeated, the district would be able to continue to use the new healthcare facility.

Brnabic thanked the Serbian Termomont construction firm, recalling that the same company built a Covid-19 hospital in the Belgrade suburb of Karaburma. Her thanks also went to the Army of Serbia and its members who had been supporting civilian structures since March 16.
