Epidemiologist Predrag Kon has stated that as of Sept. 18, Serbian citizens coming from high-risk countries will have to electronically check in with the national health system, meaning they need to fill out an electronic health report. In addition, they are required to contact COVID-19 centers should they start showing symptoms.

Dr. Kon told the RTS public service that a reporting system of a kind is already in place, in form of a self-assessment questionnaire on the government’s website e-zdravlje.gov.rs , adding that he expects that the electronic reporting system for travelers will start working on Sept. 18.

“The only thing a citizen has to do is to check in through this portal. They should enter their personal information, and this will generate a report which says where and when the person entered the country. If they develop symptoms – fever, loss of smell and taste, respiratory problems, they should immediately contact a COVID-19 center,” Kon said.

The monitoring of travelers, Kon said, ends after 10 days since their check in, after which they need to check out. According to him, those who fail to comply with the said measures and then infect others, especially if that leads to tragic consequences, will be subject to penalties for endangering public health.
