On the occasion of a consultative meeting which is held as part of the inter-party dialogue on improving election conditions in Serbia with the European parliament’s mediation, Serbian Speaker Ivica Dacic said on April 28 that the talks will not begin before June.

Speaking for Happy TV, Dacic also said that he will be informed about the first round of the talks on May 7, pointing out that “26 parties have been invited and that almost all of them will attend.” Dacic reiterated that on April 28 he will talk with representatives of the government and a part of the opposition which refuse the mediation.

“The beginning of the dialogue in which the EU will take part now depends on the European Parliament. [The talks] will certainly not begin before June, and some are even mentioning September,” Dacic added.

He also said that only the leaders of the Freedom and Justice Party and People’s Party, Dragan Djilas and Vuk Jeremic, respectively, had not delivered to the National Assembly their platforms for the talks.

“I cannot know in advance who has what ambitions. They are already analyzing whether to participate in the vote, or boycott it,” Dacic said.
