Patriarch Porfirije (BETAPHOTO/MILOS MISKOV/MO)

In his Easter epistle on April 29, the head of Serbian Orthodox Church, Patriarch Porfirije, said that the Church is with all the sick, and that these days its “thoughts and prayers are turned […] especially to those infected with COVID-19, as well as all the doctors and medical staff who, risking their lives, are fighting to save those suffering from the virus and other diseases.”

“All the peoples of the world, from the East to the West, from the North to the South, are affected by this wicked and dangerous disease caused by an invisible virus,” the patriarch said, adding that he prays for the healing of all the sick, as well as the souls of the dead.

The patriarch also called Kosovo and Metohija “a symbol of dignity, honor, and righteous fight for a free life on ancestral soil.” To “the faithful sons and daughters of the proud Montenegro” he wished the blessings of all the saints to accompany them in their fight for the victory of good over evil.

Patriarch Porfirije also saluted all the “brothers and sisters” living in Republika Srpska, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Slovenia and North Macedonia.
