The Serbian speaker, Ivica Dacic, said on May 5 that some opposition parties had been critical of Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) who participated in Serbia's inter-party dialogue to improve the national election process.

Dacic said in an interview with the Happy TV that those parties believed the preparations for the dialogue were much too slow. "I believe that it would be good for political life in Serbia to make an effort to ensure that everyone takes part in the next elections," he said.

The speaker said the preparatory stage was over. "A new idea has been launched that primary elections be held within the opposition. The problem is that they think the whole world revolves around the primary elections, while it appears completely irrelevant who the candidate will be, and that candidate can win the election," Dacic explained.

He said that after the first round of consultations with the European parliamentarians he would talk with them on May 7, promising that the talks will take as long as necessary for a tangible solution to be reached.
