Corona virus

In the last 24 hours, one person has died of COVID-19 in Serbia, while there were 110 confirmed new cases of infection, according to a July 5 update on covid19.rs, the Serbian Health Ministry's official website.

Samples from 7,881 persons were tested in the same time frame. The epidemic to date has claimed 7,059 lives in Serbia and there are currently 281 patients hospitalized with COVID-19, 11 of whom are on ventilators.

The epidemiologist Branislav Tiodorovic said on July 5 that the Delta variant of the novel coronavirus, whose presence in Serbia was confirmed days ago, produced "somewhat milder symptoms," but was still not to be taken lightly.

He said 18-25-year-olds were most vulnerable to contracting the Delta variant, and that experience so far indicated the infection manifested "as a bad cold."
