Progressives’ Official: Party Top Body To Meet Soon, Future Cabinet Will Include Minority Parties

The Novi Sad mayor and a member of the Serbian Progressive Party Presidency, Milos Vucevic, on Aug. 23 said that the party top body would convene in “the coming days” to discuss candidates for the next prime minister.

Speaking to Prva TV, Vucevic said that the next prime minister could be nominated by the Progressives or by a coalition partner, stressing that for the time being, the potential candidates included him and incumbent Prime Minister Ana Brnabic.

Vucevic said that the Progressives’ Presidency meeting would discuss candidates for cabinet ministers and also a coalition with the Socialist Party of Serbia and the United Serbia Party, noting that there were several options for the future cabinet, but that it would definitely include minority parties.  

The Progressives’ Presidency meeting has been scheduled for Aug. 23, but the party leader and the Serbian president, Aleksandar Vucic, has said he does not know “whether he will the time to attend due to the situation in Kosovo and Metohija.”
