Japan Tobacco International Serbia announced on Dec. 12 that it had launched a new, USD51-million investment cycle this year, to last until 2026.

The investments include a new production line to double the company's capacity, a development center and two warehouses, the press release noted.

Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic and JTI vice president Takahiro Kumamoto opened the production plant in a ceremony on Dec. 12.

Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic stressed that JTI as one of the largest Japanese investors in Serbia was among the top five tax payers, specifying that since beginning to do business in Serbia the company had put some three billion euros into the Serbian budget.

Kumamoto said development of the company in Serbia would not have been possible without true partnership with the Serbian government and president, and that JTI remained committed to promoting Serbia as a favorable destination for investors.
