Serbia Against Violence has demanded a repeat of the snap elections held Dec. 17 for Belgrade’s local government. The opposition coalition has also called on the public to protest against “voter fraud” by rallying in front of the Belgrade City Hall at 6 p.m. on Dec. 18 and marching to the State Electoral Commission’s headquarters.

Based on 81 percent of votes counted in the capital, the Serbian Progressive Party’s ticket has 21,000 more votes than Serbia Against Violence, the coalition has said.

“Considering that over 40,000 people without legal residence in Belgrade were brought in to support the Progressives’ ticket – dramatically altering the electoral will of Belgraders – we are demanding that the local Belgrade elections be declared void and repeated following a ‘cleanse’ of the electoral roll,” the coalition’s press release reads.
