Electoral Commission: Two Ministries Find Serbia against Violence Ticket’s Claims of Inflated Voter Numbers Incorrect

The Serbian Electoral Commission said in a press release on Dec. 24 that the Ministry of State Administration and Local Government and Ministry of Internal Affairs had checked voting rosters and determined that the Serbia Against Violence coalition's claims that the number of voters with the right to vote in the Belgrade election had been artificially inflated to affect the outcome of the election were incorrect.

"By checking the number of voters in Belgrade districts according to year of registration in the Unified Voting Roster, i.e. the reported residences listed on voting slips, we found that the largest number of voters had registered addresses and were entered in the Unified Voting Roster long before the elections held on Dec. 17, 2023 were called. This is clear evidence that the claims of the coalition called Serbia Against Violence that the number of voters with the right to vote in the Belgrade election was artificially inflated to affect the outcome of the election are incorrect," the two ministries concluded.

The Serbian Election Commission added that the Interior Ministry and the Ministry of State Administration and Local Government had performed the checks at the Commission's request at its 40th session, held on Dec. 23, 2023.
