On Feb. 28, incumbent Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic stated that the final report issued by the OSCE’s Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) regarding Serbia’s 2023 elections has “put an end to all the lies and nonsense claiming electoral fraud” and the crisis these “false narratives” had created.
“What’s most important is that after months of instability and crisis – engendered by certain media and political organizations and NGOs via the thousands of lies and nonsense which were disseminated daily through regular and social media – the final report has finally come in and put an end to all the lies and nonsense claiming electoral fraud,” the prime minister stated.
According to her, the new government will, regardless of its composition, continue cooperating with the OSCE and ODIHR, even though she personally disagrees with certain aspects of the ODIHR’s report. Brnabic underlined that the new Cabinet will also continue implementing the ODIHR’s recommendations and that its monitoring mission has been invited to oversee the local elections planned for this year.
“The [ODIHR’s] recommendations show that the elections were fair, transparent and honest. [Said recommendations] were far milder than many other European Union member states have received [from the ODIHR],” the prime minister concluded.
