The president of the Socialist Party of Serbia, Ivica Dacic, stated on March 28 that the opposition should accept the invitation of Assembly Speaker Ana Brnabic for talks about recommendations on electoral conditions, scheduled for next week, and that it would be good and most reasonable if the opposition participated in that process, although he was not sure that this would take place.

“I welcome the dialogue and we will participate (in it) as the party. The requests the opposition is making should be concrete, appropriate and feasible,” Dacic told reporters in the hall of the Assembly of Serbia after consultations about the appointment of deputy presidents of the parliament’s working bodies.

In his words, the stance of Brnabic and Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic is that there should be talks about the implementation of ODIHR’s recommendations. He said that an agreement in principle had been reached on the deputy presidents of the parliament’s working bodies and that the presidents would be appointed at a later date.

Asked about the appointment of the new government, Dacic, who is the current foreign minister, said that he and Vucic discussed major foreign policy issues throughout the recent days.
