The Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) Chair-in-Office Ian Borg said on April 10 that Serbia had made progress in implementing reforms over the years, welcoming Belgrade’s efforts to implement recommendations by the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights aimed at reinforcing electoral processes in Serbia.
During a joint press conference with Serbian Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic, Borg said that his organization was committed to playing an active role in the region, and to strengthening relations with Belgrade, which he described as excellent.
“I’m glad that Serbia has made progress over the years, and we are welcoming its efforts to implement reforms, particularly those included in the ODIHR recommendations, aimed at reinforcing electoral processes,” Borg said.
Dacic said that despite the global crisis, cooperation with the OSCE was good, and Serbia intended to discuss the implementation of the ODIHR recommendations with the OSCE chair-in-office.
“I have briefed the chair-in-office about the situation in Kosovo and Metohija as well, the problems before the Serb community in Kosovo, particularly those that have emerged over a failure by Pristina to fulfill its obligations, the formation of the Community of Serb Municipalities being a major one,” Dacic said.
