Serbian Foreign Minister Marko Djuric stated on May 29 that Serbia was resolved to participate in a dialogue with all regional actors, so that the heritage of the past could be overcome.

Open Balkan promotes connectivity and prosperity in the region, instead of burdens of the past, he stated at the Foreign Ministry. In an address of the diplomatic corps during a reception to mark the Day of Serbian Diplomacy, he said that Serbia’s national priorities were respect for international law, preservation of Kosovo within the borders of Serbia and European integration.

“The Foreign Ministry proudly observes the day when we recollect the beginnings of Serbia’s diplomacy. Nowadays, Serbia should play a proactive role on the international scene, not a passive one” he added.

He thanked the ambassadors for “spending years working in Serbia” with their families and for contributing to Serbia “taking the proper position in international politics.” He also thanked the Serbian diplomats who represent the country abroad, adding that there were 84 attacks on diplomats throughout the world in the past few decades, some of whom were killed.
