According to the latest information from the Beo Cista Energija company that manages the Vinca landfill site 630,000 tons of waste or 25 percent more than the 510,000 tons of trash that was arranged in a contract on a public-private partnership with the City of Belgrade was dumped there last year.

According to the June 13 edition of the NIN weekly, the Vinca thermal power and heating plant was designed to incinerate 340,000 tons of waste while 170,000 tons was arranged as the maximum amount of waste per year, meaning that the plan was for the landfill to shrink over the years, however the solutions that were defined several years ago are no longer viable. If the trend continues there will be 70 percent more waste or 290,000 tons a year.

National Ecological Association expert council member Dejan Lekic told NIN that the "problem with Vinca is that it is now taking on more waste than initially envisaged."  "That means that its capacity will be depleted much more quickly as there is no so-called primary selection of waste. There is no portion that is being sent back for recycling. To find a solution, a new analysis of the entire management of the system needs to be done, to see what is missing," Lekic said adding that "the incinerator is one possible solution" as well as that "there is no danger to the environment."
