Since elections in Serbia have been reduced to a lottery, a full overhaul of the voting system and conditions is essential to creating an environment where the people can live better lives, Democratic Party head Zoran Lotovac said on July 12.

Speaking for the latest edition of the Danas daily, Lutovac insisted that voters who support Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic are not electing their own representatives but rather Vucic’s minions, who will not work in the interest of the public.

“You vote for Vucic [even when he] isn’t running, and what you get is someone from only God knows where. You vote for Vucic, and get his people… You vote to improve your lives, yet they work only to improve their own,” Lutovac stated.

According to him, the president chooses associates who have no integrity or personal credibility and who have violated the law, because such individuals are easier to control.
