Ecological Uprising leader Aleksandar "Cuta" Jovanovic has said that his "plan of defense" of the village of Gornje Nedeljice from lithium mining entails the placement of a gate at the entrance, so that "only a friend may pass." He also warned that anyone who had anything to do with Rio Tinto was an enemy and would be treated as such.

"I have announced the plan of defense of Gornje Nedeljice. It is military terminology and a military, technical and strategic plan of defense will be developed. The moment they arrive, we will defend ourselves physically, logistically, tactically. As befits fighting an enemy," Jovanovic said in an interview with weekly NIN.

"They are coming to displace the population and there is nothing else to do because poor is the state in which the German chancellor decides whether lithium will be mined or not," said Jovanovic.

He went on to say that "poor is the president of the state who, for the sake of staying in power, sides with a company that has left wastelands behind it all over the world, whose project says that relocating the population is necessary." "That is a pure threat and attack. And when they relocate (people) once, it will become common because it's not just about the Jadar River valley," Jovanovic underscored.

According to him, 40 new mines are to be opened and Serbia is too small to handle such pressure on itself, nature and people.
