Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic met on Oct. 16 with Norway’s outgoing envoy for the Western Balkans, Haakon Blankenborg, and discussed, in his words, the key topics, such as the current challenges and circumstances in the region and the two countries’ position in the context of a stronger regional liaising and cooperating.
“I thanked Norway for its proactive approach regarding the circumstances in the Western Balkans, and for its continued support, especially in the domain of economic development and infrastructure projects,” Vucic wrote in a post on Instagram. He stated that he particularly underscored the importance of preserving stability through dialogue and economic cooperation, which remain the key factors for peace and progress in the region.
Vucic further stated that he told Blankenborg about Serbia’s great appreciation of Norway’s support in its efforts in reforms, economic development and energy transition, and Norway’s engagement in solving regional challenges, and stressed the importance of further cooperation in the process of Serbia’s European integration. During the same meeting, Vucic greeted the new special envoy, Eirik Nestas Mathisen, and expressed Serbia’s readiness for the two countries to work even more intensively on common goals, such as stability, prosperity and sustainable development of the Western Balkans.
