The president of the Serbia Center party, Zdravko Ponos, stated on Nov. 28 that violence in the parliament had been provoked by Ana Brnabic, who has abused her position and should be behind bars.
Ponos said in an interview to Euronews television that Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic no longer had a secure majority and that the authorities were behaving as though they have kidnapped the state.
He stated that the vote on the 2025 state budget was a farce and that the opposition wished to discuss the budget, but also a confidence vote to the government.
“The agreement was not to prevent the session. Violence was not caused by the opposition. Ana Brnabic resorted to manipulation at the very start of the session and it was inappropriate that the same minute of silence was held for the people who perished in Novi Sad and for (Dragan Markovic) Palma. She was directing the actual course of the session by violating the Rules of Procedure,” Ponos stated.
He added that the Serbia Center party and the Freedom and Justice Party had pressed criminal charges against Ana Brnabic for abuse of official position, and that she should already be behind bars because she could influence witnesses. He believes that the opposition should repeat the submission of the request for a confidence vote to the government.
