The scheduled Dec. 25 sitting of Belgrade City Assembly, set to discuss the capital’s 2025 budget, began following an attempt by activists to breach City Hall.

The protestors are members of The Bridge Stays initiative, formed in opposition to the government’s plans to dismantle Belgrade’s Old Sava Bridge.

The scuffle between the activists and the private security manning the entrance lasted nearly thirty minutes, ending only after police arrived.

According to Belgrade’s 2025 budget proposal, RSD 187 billion dinars (about EUR1.6 billion) is to be allocated to financing the capital and its 17 municipalities.
