At 10 a.m. on Jan. 27, university students blocked the Autokomanda interchange, one of the capital’s major traffic hubs, with plans to keep the location shut down for 24 hours.

The public has been called upon to join the blockade.

The ongoing student protest movement is envisaged as a peaceful form of civil disobedience, aimed at pressuring the regime into determining accountability for the Nov. 1, 2024 railway station collapse that killed 15 people and left two still fighting for their lives, while also demanding that all individuals who have thus far attacked the protesting students be legally processed.

Parliament Speaker Ana Brnabic has announced that she, Prime Minister Milos Vucevic and Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic will be addressing the nation in the afternoon of Jan. 27, in response to the current situation in the country.

Brnabic stressed that certain important decisions will be announced at this time.
